Machining technology
Simple Processing
Cast polyamides are excellent for processing. In comparison with metals, their processing is faster and requires less energy. Their specific properties must be taken into account when processing them:
- greater deformability than in metals
- quite smaller elasticity module
- faster reaction to temperature
- smaller thermal conductivity
Instructions for Machining
Clamping
In order to get a quality product it is very important that the workpiece is properly clamped. When planing, the free end of the clamped workpiece should be as short as possible in order to avoid unwanted deformities and vibrations.
Tools
In most cases, standard tools for the processing of metals and partially for the processing of wood can be used for the machining of polyamides. The tools can be made of high-speed steels and of metal carbides and oxides. The cutting angles on the tools are closest to the angles for bronze processing. The most important thing is that the tools are sufficiently sharp. This causes smaller deformities and a smaller heat development.
Heating or Heat Development
Due to the low thermal conductivity of the material we must make sure that local heating is not too great, as it would cause material defects. Hence the tools must be sharp and correctly ground. It is recommended that a thinner layer of material is removed in the final stage, thus protecting the surface from heat damage. In the case of fast cutting speeds and substantial removal of material, cooling with water, air or emulsion can be used. Coolants are also recommended during long production cycles, in which the prolonged service life of a tool is of chief importance.
Advantages of technical plastics over metals
- low density and high specific strength
- resistance to chemicals and corrosion
- electrical and thermal insulation
- broad design options
- simple processing and forming
- pigmentation options
- reduce energy consumption
- do not require lubrication

Special Colours
Our technology enables adapting the production of colours to the needs of our customers. We make custom-made colours for the needs of colour marking specific parts or for aesthetic purposes.
Integral execution and solutions
We offer integral solutions and advice. You can choose from our products of various shapes, hardness, colours and other properties.
We take part in the development of your product and form solid foundations for production. We make sure that your products have higher added value and that you are satisfied with the end product.
Quality, control and warranties
The quality of the material is monitored daily. Seeing that the mechanical properties of polyamides are very important, hardness is controlled and determined using the Shore D meter. Each type of material has a specific Shore hardness limit value. The suitability of the material or its thermal properties are also determined with a DSC device.
